Senior Machinist III is a position within the production department. The primary function for the Production Technician is to facilitate the machining of raw material to final product for delivery to the customer.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
Primary Duties:
1) Read and understand work orders, setup sheets, inspection drawings, schedule and process flow
2) Fill-out required paperwork completely, and accurately (WO, inspection, scrap sheets, shift output logs, etc.)
3) Advanced operation of CNC mills, lathes, bar feeders, etc. including:
a. Setup and run all production jobs according to setup sheets/work instr. while maintaining tolerance and finish
b. vigilance towards opportunities of process improvements
c. Adjusting machine axes, home position, turret positions, calibration of probe and tool setter(i.e. post-crash)
4) Setup and programming of CNC mills with CAMworks, lathes, bar feeders, etc. including:
a. Advanced knowledge of G & M codes
b. Fluent in EIA and Mazatrol programs, ability to make manual changes
c. Advanced use of CAD/CAM software (Surfcam and CAMWorks), ability to program complex 3 & 5 axis parts
d. Advanced knowledge of milling, turning, mill/turn fixturing techniques and tooling (including sub-spindle work)
e. Design and setup of stable manufacturing processes for high production jobs
f. Knowledge & experience machining common & exotic engineering materials (selecting tooling, feeds & speeds)
g. Production Transfer of jobs (create setup sheet, drawings, tooling list, inspection forms)
h. Implement macro-variable driven programming and logic to reduce errors and increase efficiencies
i. Ability to simulate program using simulation software (with correct machine, tooling, fixtures, etc)
5) Inspection of parts according to drawings and instructions
a. In-process, 1st PC and final QA of all production jobs
b. Ability to setup and program new jobs on CMM using CAMWorks(including setup of new stylus systems)
c. Advanced knowledge of GD&T
6) Safe setup & operation of manual band saws, drill presses, grinders, sanders, etc.
7) Clean, deburr, and verify quality of finished parts
8) Basic machine maintenance (change chip hoppers, cleanout machines, add coolant, clean sumps/screens/filters)
9) Ensure the cleanliness, organization, and safety of the work cell
10) Follow and uphold all company policies, including those designated for safety, quality, and environmental considerations
11) Maintain training and understanding of the EMS to ensure all materials are disposed of properly
12) Wear all appropriate personal protective equipment required for a given task
Secondary Duties
1) Adjustment of MSC cabinet + add new items to cabinet
2) Knowledge of & ability to set up and run all .decimal machined products (protons, photons, electrons, bolus, etc)
3) Open/Close business procedures
4) Facilitate training of other production staff
