The Department of CHEMISTRY at New York University invites applications for a Visiting Clinical Assistant Professor (non tenure-track) in the area of Biochemistry or related subdiscipline. This is a one year teaching position. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $80,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. The appointment will begin on September 1, 2024, pending administrative and budgetary approval.
The Department of Chemistry at NYU is a leading center for teaching and research. We have undertaken a major development plan, strengthening our faculty, instructional laboratories, course offerings, and research facilities. Our areas of teaching and research encompass physical, biophysical, bioorganic, and biomedical chemistry, as well as chemical biology, nanoscience, and materials sciences. We have over 300 undergraduate students that have declared majors in chemistry or biochemistry as well as 120 graduate students. We seek a scholar whose teaching and research will strengthen the curriculum in the field of Biochemistry, while also complementing and enhancing the department overall. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
Responsibilities include teaching the equivalent of four (4) recitation sections and three (3) lab sections per semester or the equivalent, grading, holding regular office hours with students, and participating in course planning sessions.
