Nicasa is looking for a full or part-time counselor to provide care to those with co-occurring mental health and/or substance use disorders. A person-centered, strength based approach to client care is required, as well as an ability to collaborate internally and externally to support clients' progress in meeting complex needs.
Counselor
The Counselor for co-occurring mental health and/or substance use disorders is expected to foster a reputation for excellence, responsiveness, conscientious care, accurate and timely reports and paperwork, personable and professional manner at all times.
Qualifications
At minimum a CADC certification. Ideal candidates will be licensed through Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (LSW, LPC, LCSW or LCPC) and have experience with rules governing mental health and substance use. State of Illinois, DUI provider training a plus. Bilingual Spanish a plus.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Provide and maintain fidelity of evidence based treatment in both individual and group environment.
- Complete clinical assessments including DUI assessments to document the needs of the client, level of care recommended, and the service programs needed.
- Create a treatment plan in collaboration with the client
- Maintain and complete clear, concise and accurate progress and case management notes
- Discharge clients in accordance with Agency policies and procedures
- Adheres to policy regarding proper record keeping of staff time
- Participate actively in all treatment team meetings
- Attend appropriate trainings (CEUs) with management approval.
- Identification and appropriate use of community resources.
- Assist in treatment plan and program development.
- Mentor and work with interns.
- Participate in community education.
- Ability to motivate clients and support their progress.
- Report to court system and other referral sources as necessary.
- Adhere to all applicable laws, including HIPAA, relating to protecting client confidentiality.
