Summary
Under close and frequent supervision, assists Project Managers by performing work involving the application of all conventional aspects of civil/structural engineering for infrastructure projects including design and rehabilitation of pipelines, pump stations, lift stations and treatment facilities, flood control structures, and other heavy civil infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Performs design calculations and modeling for pipelines, pumps, and concrete, to include both facilities and/or transportation related projects.
- Performs sketches, technical comparisons and similar technical work as required by assignment.
- Coordinates project assignments with those of other engineers and technicians in his/her discipline group.
- Reviews drawings supplied by vendors, clients, and engineers and architects and recommends necessary changes.
- Researches code issues and works with City, State, and County officials.
- Researches design options and documents findings for Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
- Assists with other duties assigned by Project Engineers and/or Project Managers.
- May attend “kick-off” and design review meetings, and interacts with clients as his or her level of experience progresses.
- May be required to complete safety training courses relative to engineering project environments (i.e. fall protection, confined space entry, CPR/first aid, electrical safety, personal protective equipment, OSHA safety, or hazard communication).
- Travel may be required to attend meetings, project sites, or other business-related functions as part of your job duties. When a company vehicle is unavailable, your personal vehicle shall be utilized.
- Performs other duties assigned by a Project Manager or the Engineering Department Manager.
Education
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering .
Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering preferred.
Possess EIT certification, or have the ability to take the Fundamentals of Engineering exam within six months of hire.
Experience
1-2 years preferred.
