Since 1982 we have been a family-owned, heavy-highway contractor. Our office is in Vancouver, Washington 98665. Our current market is open-bid, public works involving civil and structural work. Contract values range from $50,000 to $35,000,000. We primarily operate in Washington and Oregon.
We are seeking a Quality Control Manager (QCM). As such this person would initially be responsible for the following:
- Checking and verifying construction staking, lay-out and grade control.
- Verifying that delivered materials conform to the contract.
- Contributing to the preparation and updating of manual, two-week and computerized, project-long schedules.
- Checking and verifying that construction items such as concrete formwork, hoisting, haul route access, traffic control, erosion control, safety plans, etc. conform to the contract and approved submittals.
- Documenting jobsite activities.
Our desire is to employ someone who has the capacity to increasingly assume project management and estimating duties.
Initial qualifications include at least one of the following:
- One year of experience managing quality control on highway construction projects of similar size, type, and complexity.
- Two years’ experience as a construction project manager or superintendent on highway construction projects of similar size, type, and complexity; or
- Three years’ experience as a project engineer, resident engineer, foreman, construction inspector, or equivalent on highway construction projects of similar size, type, and complexity; or
- National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET) Level III certification or equivalent in highway construction or highway material.
This person would be assigned to our $7 million road and bridge project west of Salem, Oregon.
Depending upon the candidate’s experience, we would be willing to pay around $80,000 to $105,000 per year for 50 hours of work per week. In addition, we offer the following:

Special consideration will be given to candidates with a college degree in construction or engineering. Experience with government contracts is helpful. Applicants must also be computer literate and able to pass a drug test.
