UCC is currently hiring for a Foreman position on an Underground Dry Utility Construction crew.
The ideal candidate for Foreman will be experienced in the construction of underground electrical projects and is the competent person for the work being performed and manages subordinates.
The Foreman will perform all aspects of electrical and dry utility construction projects. This is a skilled trade, craft labor position, with some supervisory responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Perform construction activities and manage 3-to-4-person crew, including:
- Installation of underground trench, conduit, j-boxes, vaults, manholes, duct banks, etc.
- Installation of electrical concrete structures, including streetlight and traffic signal foundations
- Installation and termination of electrical wiring and fiber optic cabling
- Installation of streetlight and traffic signal poles, luminaires, indications, and associated hardware
- Operation of heavy equipment and trucks
- Read and interpret project plans, specifications, and details.
- Ensure that the equipment used on projects is appropriate for the work being done and is properly maintained. Perform pre-task inspections of equipment.
- Work safely and in compliance with UCC’s safety plan, EEO policy, and all other company policies as appropriate. Monitor crew members to ensure they are working safely as well.
- Drive production and ensure jobs are completed on time and on budget.
- Manage materials installed on projects.
- Ensure that work performed is up to workmanship standards.
- Prepare reports, emails, and other documents as required.
- Physically able to bend, lift, push, and pull as work requires.
- Physically able to work outside and exposed to the elements.
- Physically able to work long shifts as required.
- Any other tasks assigned as required and directed by UCC.
Skills and Qualifications:
· Minimum 5 years of experience working on underground Dry Utility construction projects.
· Knowledge of codes, local standards, and OSHA safety standards
· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, project specifications, and other technical documents.
Education and Certifications:
· CDL Class A, or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
· OSHA 10-hour certification, or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
