As an EMS Biller & Coder in our Patient Financial Services Department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely billing and coding for our life-saving medical services. You'll be at the forefront of translating patient care into appropriate financial transactions, making sure our organization remains financially viable while ensuring patients receive the care they need.
A day in the life:
- Verify patient insurance information.
- Coding of Trip with appropriate HCPC Codes, Modifiers, and ICD-10 codes.
- Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is received and complete to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims.
- Submit corrected claims.
- Maintainsquality results by following standard operating procedures.
- Other duties as assigned and directed by team leads/management.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
- Practice confidentiality with regard to patient information
Background we are looking for:
- Ability to use the computer.
- Ability to work independently to accomplish assigned work in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate with staff and the public, both in-person and over the telephone, in a tactful manner, and under difficult situations.
- Understanding and carrying out verbal and written directions
- Follow Versatile Revenue Management policies and procedures.
- Works independently in the absence of supervision
- ICD-10: 2 years (Preferred)
- CPT Coding: 1 year (Preferred)
- Medical Billing: 2 years (Preferred)
- EMS Billing: 1 year (Preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite specifically excel and word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Problem Solving and Organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of:
- Federal laws and regulations affecting coding requirements.
- Principles, practices, and methods of current coding certificate required.
- Modern office practices, etc.
- Knowledge of billing practices required.
- Knowledge of medical records, EHR required.
- Extensive knowledge of medical coding conventions and rules established by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for assignment of diagnostic and procedural codes.
- Must have good math skills and effective communication skills.
