POSITION SUMMARY
Hearts Alive Village is seeking a veterinary receptionist with strong customer service skills and the ability to engage the community in our mission.
As a veterinary receptionist, you must be able to provide excellent customer care in accordance with Clinic policy and promote gold standard medical care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Front Clinic Veterinary Receptionist must be able to, effectively and accurately, perform the following duties that include but are not limited to:
- Record all pertinent medical, client, and case related information in the patient record accurately, with appropriate grammar.
- Review medical records, estimates or discharge instructions with clients.
- May be asked to assist with animals (minimal contact)
- Provide client care for scheduling appointments, taking payments and checking in clients.
- Answer the phones in a courteous and informative manner.
- Assist in all daily duties for clinic care and ensuring protocol is met for clinic sanitation.
- Perform equipment maintenance as directed
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb - as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50lbs.
- Endure sitting, standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods
QUALIFICATIONS
- Compassion and sensitivity: Ability to be sensitive to an ill pet, as well as its concerned owner.
- Customer service skills: Ability to provide friendly, efficient service to patients in-person, as well as on the phone.
- Interpersonal skills: Ability to feel comfortable dealing with patients, staff, and others.
- Technology skills: Ability to operate office technology such as computers, payment processors and printers.
- Mental and physical stamina: Ability to stay calm when handling a nervous, defensive animal while maintaining professionalism with the client.
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage office operations such as taking messages, scheduling appointments, and maintaining patient files.
- Ability to be confident around pets
- Able to work in potentially noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment.
Please note that experience in dog training or pet grooming is not required for this position. However, if you have a passion for animals, it would be considered a plus.
