Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team. As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting our dentists and ensuring the smooth operation of our dental office. This is a paid position with opportunities for career growth and development.
Responsibilities:
- Assist dentists during dental procedures, including general dentistry and orthodontics
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Take dental x-rays
- Provide chairside assistance to dentist during procedures
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care
- Perform basic laboratory tasks, such as pouring impressions and fabricating temporary crowns
- Schedule patient appointments and maintain accurate records
- Manage inventory of dental supplies and order new supplies as needed
Skills:
- Proficiency in using dental software systems for patient record management
- Knowledge of medical terminology related to dentistry
- Familiarity with aseptic techniques to maintain infection control standards
- Understanding of medical coding for accurate billing and insurance claims
- Experience in assisting with various dental procedures, including restorative work and root canals
- Proficiency in taking dental radiographs and interpreting the images
- Ability to perform patient assessments, including taking vital signs and recording medical history
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program or equivalent experience
- Current certification in Dental Assisting (CDA) preferred but not required
- CPR certification required
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and perform at a high level in a busy setting.
