Payroll Manager
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Manager to join our team. The Payroll Manager role is a hands-on leadership position with oversight of the payroll department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll operations.
Responsibilities:
- Serves as a Subject Matter Expert on payroll regulations, procedures, and policy.
- Provides training and support to Payroll Team on interpretation and implementation of payroll practices and policies.
- Performs research and analysis of current payroll and tax issues and implements appropriate solutions.
- Fully analyzes, understands, and documents legislative changes and requirements. Guides IT, HRIS, Finance, and HR departments with the implementation of payroll related procedures and systems changes or requirements as it relates to payroll.
- Ensures taxes and other required government withholdings are collected, deposited, and reported on a timely basis to federal, state, and local authorities in a secure manner along with ensuring relevant internal controls are in place and executed.
- Understands payroll strategies and delivers recommendations for improving the payroll process. Champions payroll-related projects. Leads and supports all projects and initiatives directed by management.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred or a combination of education and experience
- 2 years in a payroll leadership role
- 5+ years’ experience with multi-state payroll processing and related payroll taxes, including reciprocity
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
- Strong technical skills and experience with payroll and HRIS systems. Experience with NetSuite preferred
- Multi-State knowledge of Federal/State payroll requirements
- Expert-level knowledge of complex payroll concepts
- Advanced skills in office applications including spreadsheets
