About This PositionThe Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing will handle areas of potential need for interventions for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The teacher will provide direct and indirect instruction to DHH students, using specialized techniques and materials to teach auditory skills, speech/language development, self advocacy, and academic content. The teacher will collaborate and partner with other school staff and general education teachers to develop and implement annual IEPs, write IEP goals, and determine IEP accommodations. TOD may provide direct services 1:1, in small groups, or provide pull-out or push-in classroom services.The teacher will monitor the use of communication access technology/services to support academic achievement and successful communication for students who are deaf and hard of hearing. The teacher will provide direct services to a caseload of students who are deaf and hard of hearing using best practices and consult with teams on eligibility and accessibility. Qualified applicants will hold a Special Education license and DHH licensure.
