Structural Steel Detailer
Cherokee Steel Fabricators, Inc. is searching for an experienced Detailer to translate design drawings and specifications into complete and accurate shop and erection drawings and direct the fabrication and erection of miscellaneous and structural components.
As a Detailer, you will play a crucial role in our construction projects by providing accurate detailed drawings to ensure projects are completed to our customer specifications. This position involves interpreting architectural and structural building plans, creating shop drawings, and ensuring the steel structure is accurately fabricated and erected.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret architectural and structural building plans to determine the dimensions, welds, holes, and locations of steel members
- Create detailed shop drawings for structural steel items, including beams, columns, trusses, and other steel components
- Develop shop drawings for miscellaneous steel items, such as stairs, handrails, and metal decking
- Use computer-aided design (CAD) software, such as AutoCAD, to create and modify drawings
- Use and understand TEKLA modeling software
- Review and revise drawings as needed to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Complete job drawings according to schedule requirements
- Plan and calculate lengths and dimensions of various steel elements according to construction tolerances
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or degree in drafting, engineering, or a related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in structural steel detailing or a related field
- Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD
- Proficient in using construction modeling software TEKLA (2+ years of experience, preferred)
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication and erection processes
- Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $61,916.60 - $74,566.23 per year
