First Church is looking for a reliable person to assist with the maintenance and upkeep of church buildings and grounds, providing a safe and welcoming environment for members, guests and staff.
This position will be responsible for opening and closing the building, and preparing clean and safe entrances by picking up litter, putting out signs, and shoveling sidewalks in winter. This position will assist with maintenance and upkeep projects, including but not limited to painting, carpentry, furniture assembly, moving, minor plumbing, and electrical. Position will also need to interact with on-site contractors, and oversee projects and provide assistance as needed. Additional duties include equipment set-up and take down for worship services, dinners, events, and meetings (signs, chairs, tables, risers, lecterns). This position will also be responsible for responding to calls from the security company when an alarm is triggered, to inspect the property and re-secure the building.
The ideal candidate will be trustworthy, and exhibit positive interpersonal skills, with an ability to multi-task and problem-solve, and display enthusiasm for the church and its mission.
Additional Qualifications and Requirements:
· High School Diploma or GED required.
· Experience in all types of tasks related to maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings (including, but not limited to painting, carpentry, furniture assembly, moving, minor plumbing, and electrical).
· Ability to reach, bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for extended periods of time. Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and complete mobility for required activities.
· Dependable, responsible, and self-motivated. Must have regular timely attendance during stated or negotiated hours.
· Able to work effectively with diverse cultures and ethnicities, all levels of socioeconomic status, gender identities, and sexual orientations.

· Reports to Building Services Manager.
· On the job training will be provided, as necessary.
· Pay commensurate with experience. FLSA: Hourly non-exempt
Required Hours:
· 20 hours per week Monday through Friday
Additional Hours Available:
· Various events requiring staff may occur throughout the year including but not limited to weddings, funerals, memorial services, and concerts.
