PORTER (Temporary, 40 hours per week)
Our high-rise condominium building is looking for a temporary Porter for 40 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Tuesday-Friday, 10am-6pm. The position is expected to last three months.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Our Day Porters deliver Resident satisfaction by customizing the Resident experience through anticipating Resident needs, exceeding Resident expectations, and creating a polished and welcoming atmosphere that Residents enjoy coming home to.
A Day Porter ensures a clean and safe environment in common areas of the property by following set procedures and standards. Although the position involves a variety of duties, the focus is on refuse handling and groundskeeping. It is important for a Day Porter to be careful and thorough in working and cleaning the premises. A Day Porter needs to be able to work efficiently with other Team Members.
This role will also fill in for the concierge team during lunches and breaks.
Salary: $25.00 per hour
Schedule: Tuesday-Friday, 10am -6pm (40 hours per week); this is a temporary position expected to last three months

RESPONSIBILITIES/ DAILY ACTIVITIES:
Day Porter tasks will be assigned by the Engineer, the below are essential functions for the team:
- Empty recycle and trash bins and haul dumpsters as needed.
- Check trash chute and equipment rooms, compactors, and clean as needed.
- Sweep, vacuum, and shampoo various areas.
- Collect, sort, and count supplies, maintaining a strict inventory.
- Check exterior / interior lighting.
- Clean elevators.
- Pressure wash exterior property perimeter, exterior terrace amenities, and parking garage.
- Operate leaf blower.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS:
- Ensure all common areas are always clean and free from debris.
- Ensure all common area lighting is always working.
- Monitor and schedule testing of all safety systems and equipment, assuring that all preventative maintenance measures are taken, and all services engaged are cost-effective and operation effective.
- Keep other on-site team members and/or Business Association Manager are advised at all times of any significant maintenance needs, problems, or activities on the property.
- Respond to emergencies such as water leaks, equipment failure, etc.
- Perform minor repairs.
- Perform other tasks as may be requested by General Manager or Business Association Manager.
- Keep General Manager informed of any breaches in security, suspicious activities, and other security concerns.
- Monitor building and grounds to identify potential hazards and violations of Community Rules.
- Familiar with fire alarm and fire protection systems. Able to follow the directives of the Emergency Operations Plan and act accordingly.
- Provide on-call coverage and emergency response services.
- Ability to use property management app to record and review maintenance requests.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent experience.
- 1-2 years of handyman, porter, or similar experience in a professional large facility setting preferred.
SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Knowledge of the proper use and minor adjustment of sweepers, vacuum cleaners, and other equipment.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
This job may require pulling and pushing of objects up to 80 lbs., with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing 25 lbs. Other physical demands that may be required are stooping, and/or kneeling, climbing, reaching, and balancing.
- Good time management skills.
- Ability to do washing/cleaning of windows, screens, and floors; waxing and polishing floors; power washing; and other work relating to the cleaning property exterior.
- Ability to lift and maneuver equipment weighing up to 25 lbs.
- Demonstrate ability to keep simple records and follow procedures.
- Excellent customer service skills that can be maintained in a high-volume environment.
- Must be able to communicate well in writing and orally, with a variety of people including, but not limited to, Residents, Public, Staff, Management or Business Association Manager, and service providers. This position requires proficiency in English.
- Must be computer literate.
- Must be neat and well-groomed in appearance.
