Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited university, with a focus on mechanical engineering (BSME or BSIE), and possess relevant experience in manufacturing and designing high-speed automation machines.
In the role of Mechanical Engineering Team Lead, you will have managerial responsibility for a team involved in the design and development of automated packaging equipment that operates at high speeds. Your primary objective will be to ensure that projects are completed within the specified timeframe and meet the required standards. This position offers a unique opportunity to establish a proprietary process and procedure based on personal expertise and industry best practices.
Your responsibilities will include:
Leading the design process of high-speed automated packaging machinery, encompassing mechanical layout, component sourcing, and generation of bill of materials (BOMs).
Coordinating with project managers, manufacturing, supply chain, and electrical engineers to ensure that projects are completed in accordance with the prescribed specifications.
Cultivating relationships with customer-facing organizations, vendors, and suppliers.
Performing root cause analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of equipment.
Managing subcontractors and their work to ensure compliance with design requirements within project timelines.
Supporting Machine Production and Installation
- Providing assistance to Technical Sales managers on platform production projects.
- Addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, conducting studies, and providing estimates.
- Offering cost-effective solutions to problems that impact customer products, while preserving design integrity.
Assisting in reducing costs and improving the quality of mechanical designs for our machinery.
Understanding the mechanical specifications and requirements of customers' packaging operations.
Maintaining positive working relationships with colleagues.
Fostering external relationships with customers and understanding their specific needs, as well as liaising with supplier representatives and personnel.
Qualifications:
Hold a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
Have at least 5 years of engineering experience, preferably in the field of high-speed automated machinery.
Demonstrate experience in managing organizational change.
Possess knowledge of ASME Y14.5 and GD&T.
Have experience working in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment.
Experience with Packaging Machinery Equipment is a plus.
Additional licensure or certification may be required for this role.
Show excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Have practical experience with CAD software, PLM systems, and engineering change management.
Possess strong interpersonal, negotiation, and communication skills.
Demonstrate exceptional motivational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
Be willing to travel 10-15% of the time, including travel to our international sister plant in France.
