About The Carver: The Carver's mission is to equip all learners for global competitiveness by leading strategic partnerships with schools and communities that advance excellence and growth opportunities. Carver operates 60+ before-school, after-school, and summer programs in all K-12 public schools in Norwalk, Side by Side Charter School, the Classical Studies Magnet Academy in Bridgeport, Naugatuck High School, Stamford High School, and the Carver Community Center. With an annual budget of $10,356,289 (nearly tripled since 2020), The Carver serves more than 2,800 K-12 students a year, with 24 full-time and 486 part-time employees. Carver programming aligns with in-school curricula, occurs within the student's respective schools, and is led by each school’s daytime certified teachers. Recreational, wellness, and cultural components enhance a variety of skills for children. Our primary goal is for all Carver students to transition to the next grade on time and prepared.
Position Overview:
The Carver is seeking a motivated and experienced Development Coordinator to join our growing team. This role presents an exciting opportunity for an individual who is mission-driven and passionate about data management, seeking ways to improve efficiency streamline workflows, and support a diverse team.
The Development Coordinator will provide essential administrative support to ensure the smooth operation of our fundraising and marketing efforts, including but not limited to managing our donor database, processing donations, generating acknowledgment letters, supporting donor communications, and providing critical day-to-day administrative support.
This is an office-based position. Some evenings and weekends may be necessary.
Responsibilities
· Manage The Carver’s donor database, Raiser’s Edge, including:
o Ensuring information and donations are properly recorded, accurate, and up to date.
o Providing administrative support to staff as needed to ensure records are regularly updated.
o Ensuring the development, maintenance, and adherence to Raiser’s Edge policies and practices.
o Staying up-to-date on best practices and upgrades; supporting staff in learning and use of Raiser’s Edge.
· Provide support for all donor communications, including:
o Generating, proofreading, and ensuring the applicable signature and mailing of all thank you letters and tax receipts for all gifts within two business days, consistent with The Carver’s gift processing procedures.
o Supporting direct mail campaigns, including preparing/segmenting donor and prospect lists to fit the various appeals. Coordinate direct mail appeals with vendors.
o Supporting donor communication vehicles, including the co-creation of donor impact e-newsletters, and promotion of The Carver fundraising initiatives and events via email and social media.
· Provide general administrative support, including:
o Opening and routing mail; answering telephones; maintaining inventory and ordering supplies.
o Developing and maintaining the fundraising and marketing calendars.
o Providing event support as requested.
o Providing project support to the development department as requested.
o Assisting in producing and formatting reports as needed and/or gathering data and information, as needed.
o Provide support to Development staff related to volunteer engagement and management as requested.
o Serve as an onsite representative of the Development team to greet donors and volunteers, answer questions, and provide information, if and as needed.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
· Years of Relevant Work Experience in a nonprofit: 2-3 years
· Experience and knowledge of Microsoft Office and database management systems.
· Proven track record of setting priorities and meeting deadlines.
· Strong project and time management skills.
· Must have valid driver’s license, willing to travel within our territory.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
· Bachelor’s degree.
· Experience with Raiser’s Edge.
· Fundraising, project management, and/or community outreach experience is preferred.
· Strong research skills.
