Position Title/Hours: Clinical Director
Hours: Part Time, 24 hours per week
Program/Service Area: StrongGirls Program
Position Type: Primarily in-person, minimal remote hours
Location: Birmingham, AL
Reports To: Executive Director
Salary range: $40,000
**This position is ideal for a licensed clinician who wishes to maintain a small private practice with space available onsite for this purpose.
Job Overview:
Joining the team as the Clinical Director of the StrongGirls program offers an opportunity to lead a dynamic, experiential, and highly creative outpatient treatment program that has been designed specifically for high-risk adolescent girls involved in the juvenile justice system. The Clinical Director plays a pivotal role in all aspects of the program by ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality services while maintaining a safe, therapeutic milieu that aligns with the StrongGirls philosophy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement components of the StrongGirls program including group, individual, and family therapy sessions, expressive and visual arts activities, team building initiatives, equine-assisted therapy, and closing ceremonies.
- Lead staff in developing creative interventions for individuals and groups with diverse needs and learning styles.
- Co-lead group sessions and/or family groups as needed.
- Provide assistance to Program Coordinator when needed with intake assessments, strengths-based treatment plans, case management services, and discharge planning.
- Remain current with best practices for trauma-informed, gender-specific, and culturally and developmentally sensitive treatment approaches.
- Ensure that documentation and reporting are completed promptly and in accordance with professional standards.
- Hire, train and supervise StrongGirls staff and conduct performance reviews.
- Provide schedules for program staff.
- Collect, review and submit timesheets from staff to Executive Director for payroll transfer.
- Conduct program monitoring and evaluation activities as specified in grants and contracts.
- Maintain an open line of communication with Jefferson County Family Court officials and collateral contacts including reports and case updates.
- Provide clinical supervision for master’s level student internships and practicums
- Conduct weekly treatment team meetings and coordinate in-service trainings.
- Manage the annual budget of the StrongGirls Program alongside the Executive Director.
- Compile and submit an Annual Report to the Department of Youth Services (DYS).
- Coordinate site visits with DYS and other grantors as required.
- Work in coordination with the Executive Director to develop StrongGirls grant proposals per the required deadlines.
- Assist with other duties/projects as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- LICSW (Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker), LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor), or current Alabama licensure in a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years post-graduate experience in supervision and working with female adolescents and their families, particularly those involved in the juvenile justice system.
- Experience in managing adolescent group dynamics in a psychotherapeutic setting; with the ability to draw from an extensive repertoire of activities and interventions geared to the unique composition of each group. Must possess strong clinical judgment.
- Passionate about working with adolescents. Have high energy as well as ability to be ‘present’ and apply deep listening skills.
- Ability to maintain a cohesive, creative, and highly interactive team of staff.
- Experience in and credentials to supervise clinical professionals working towards licensure (preferred)
- Experience in grant writing (preferred)
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, keen attention to detail, solid work ethic, and the capacity to work independently and within a team.
