Job Title: Transportation CAD Manager
Job Summary:
As a Transportation CAD Manager, you will be responsible for managing the CAD team and coordinating CAD activities to support transportation infrastructure projects. Your role will include overseeing the creation, modification, and maintenance of engineering drawings, plans, and designs using CAD software. You will work closely with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure that CAD deliverables meet project requirements and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
· Coordinate CAD activities to support transportation infrastructure projects, including
roadways, bridges, highways, and transit systems
· Review project requirements and develop CAD standards & procedures to assure uniformity and accuracy in drawing production
· Collaborate with Engineers & Project Managers on CAD support needed for production
· Oversee creation and modification of engineering drawings, plans, customizations, and designs using CAD software such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, and AutoCAD
· Conduct Quality Control checks on CAD deliverables to assure compliance with project specs and standards
· Troubleshoot CAD-related issues and provide technical support to CAD team members as needed
· Stay informed about advancements in CAD technology and recommend software updates or training programs to enhance team productivity and efficiency
· Manage CAD project files and documentation, assuring proper organization and version control
· Communicate regularly with project team to provide updates on CAD progress, address concerns, and resolve any issues that may arise
· Manage and mentor team of CAD technicians and designers; providing guidance and support to assure high-quality work output
· Train in-house staff and evaluate new hire prospects
· Provide support for plotting and electronic file submissions
· Order & maintain printer & plotter supplies, and monitor status
· Archive completed projects
· Clean up CAD files for project closeout
Qualifications:
· Proven experience (10+ years) working in CAD design and drafting, with a focus on surface transportation infrastructure projects
· Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
· Proficiency in CAD software (OpenRoads Designer preferred)
· Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices related to transportation design and construction
· Excellent communication skills, with ability to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders
· Attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
· Excellent knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to transportation engineering and CAD drafting
