The Global Markets & Technologies (GM&T) World Business Unit delivers technological solutions (molecules, equipment and services) to support the new markets of energy transition, maritime logistics and scientific exploration, in order to accelerate Air Liquide sustainable growth. To support the energy transition, GM&T brings environmentally friendly solutions to the clean energy market with hydrogen energy and Bio-Natural Gas for vehicles, refrigerated transport using nitrogen, but also the treatment and injection of Biogas into the energy grid as a local power source.
The Process Engineer role will help grow our membrane business by providing creative technology solutions to assist in solving our customer's complex separations challenges. This role will vary with business demands and will include support for project execution, upfront modeling of membrane solutions and combination with other technologies, field demonstration of new technology, design and start-up of new and existing applications, field services and data collection, customer support and sales support.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership in process and operational safety at all times, and demand that of others, including plant personnel, visitors, contractors;
- Support project execution: Develop P&IDs, control philosophy, equipment specifications/selection and requisitions, proposals, operator manuals and support HAZOPs. This includes becoming technical lead on projects very rapidly.
- Design membrane based process solutions, incorporating hybrid technologies and ranging from initial conceptual design and development through deployment, operations and project support;
- Model Air Liquide Advanced Separations (ALaS) membrane portfolio including MEDAL, IMS and PEEK-Separation technologies;
- Manage integration of other key process equipment such as pressure swing adsorption to integrate into the process solutions and coordinate with these key suppliers;
- Support the Business Development team with design basis, cost estimates, technical proposals and appendices for quotations;
- Assist in start-up of projects as needed including commercial projects and first of a kind/demonstration projects;
- Support onsite customer replacements, demonstrations of membrane technology including test system installation, commissioning, startup, and data analysis;
- Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs;
- Perform simulations to support solutions development and model membrane performance and optimize overall process integration
- Support continuous improvement of models with operational data from field testing and commercial systems
- Perform technical/product training for inside and outside stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering or ME
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience with process modeling software like Aspen HYSYS or Aspen+
- Ability to work collaboratively with people and organizations in multiple geographies while delivering results
- Ability to conceptualize and communicate business needs
- Must have exceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrates strong process and operational safety behavior at all times.
- Demonstrated understanding of Engineering and Engineering/Procurement models
- Demonstrated ability to present technical information to promote technology
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate with multiple technical activities or disciplines in the framework of project or proposals
- Demonstrated ability to influence employees and stakeholders to gain buy-in on technical solutions
- Selfstarter with the ability to work with a remote team across multiple time zones
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and opportunities based on changing business needs
- Fluent in English language, both verbal and written
Preferred
- Experience in gas separations; hands-on field and plant experience
- Experience with separation technologies such as temperature swing adsorption, pressure swing adsorption, membranes, dehydration technologies
- Experience with refinery processes, hydrogen production, oil & gas production, helium technologies
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
Salary range for this position in Houston, TX is $90k to 105K with an additional annual target incentive of 9% based on performance
