An Engineering Professional will provide project management and coordination of projects including public buildings, roads, and utility infrastructure. This includes: assisting in scoping of the project with the end user; obtaining proposals; participating in contract negotiations; developing plans, quality assurance activities; reviewing construction plans and specifications (including constructability reviews); negotiating amendments; preparing and tracking schedules, reviewing and preparing cost estimates, managing construction costs, reviewing pay estimates and change order requests; obtaining complete as built contract documents. Ensures that work is performed in accordance with contract plans, specifications, City codes and ordinances.
Associate Engineer I & II (Yearly Salary: $53,854 - $75,346 DOQ)
The Associate Engineers provide general civil engineering support. They are the City’s representative in reviewing proposed infrastructure and planning for future infrastructure needs. They collaborate with management, engineers, and end-users to establish goals and monitor results. As the Associate Engineer, you will provide review of plans for public or private buildings, roads, and utility infrastructure; and will utilize engineering and asset management principles to evaluate future needs and prepare future Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).
Engineer (P.E.) (Yearly Salary: $66,699 - $83,374 DOQ)
Our Engineers manage and train engineering staff and provide general civil engineering support. They act as the City’s representative in reviewing proposed infrastructure and planning for future infrastructure needs. As Engineer, you will collaborate with management, engineers, and end-users to establish goals and monitor results; provides review of plans for public or private buildings, roads, and utility infrastructure; and utilize engineering and asset management principles to evaluate future needs and prepare future Capital Improvement Plans (CIP).
Senior Engineer (P.E.) (Yearly Salary: $84,385 - $105,481 DOQ)
The Senior Engineer develops and maintains a five-year Capital Improvement Plan by utilizing existing water, wastewater and storm drainage master plans, runs the existing water computer model and oversees updates to master plans. These individuals develop plans to address chronic flooding issues; produce plans and specifications to bid capital improvement projects; review drainage reports and floodplain issues as part of the development review; and lead the effort to improve the development review process. As Senior Engineer, you will review commercial and residential plans and determines compliance to ordinances; and communicates with citizens, developers, consultants and other government agencies.
Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or institution.

Associate Engineer I will have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or institution.

Associate Engineer II will have Engineer-in-Training certification and two or more years experience in professional level Civil Engineering design or project management related roles.

Engineer (P.E.) will have Professional Engineer License (Obtain Texas P.E. license within six months); and four years experience in a professional level civil engineering or project management role.

Senior Engineer will have a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; P.E. registration in Texas, or ability to obtain it within one year; and five (5) years of experience in a professional level Civil Engineering design or project management role.
These positions require a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days).
Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require an employee in this position to work more than 40 hours a week. This position provides services or performs duties for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations. These may include services or duties different from those performed in the usual course and scope of your job. In the event of an evacuation, the incumbent in this position may be required to remain to perform needed services.
