SUMMARY:
The RN manages the staff, clients and medications in the Crisis Units. This position requires a qualified registered nurse who can appropriately integrate with the staff and other department staff that provide and contribute to patient care. The Staff Nurse implements several important functions including mediation management, nursing assessments, treatment planning and other duties required as a registered nurse. He/she will demonstrate the ability to deal with patient’s anger in a manner which promoted a positive learning experience for the patient. Will also demonstrate the ability to physically de-escalate a crisis situation involving mental health patients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform assessment (medical status, psychiatric status) within 24 hours of patient’s admission.

Assess, implement and document safety measures necessary for the patient.

Implement plan of care and intervention.

Accurately observed records and reported medical and psychiatric signs and symptoms to the appropriate personnel.

Demonstrate effective problem solving skills.

Demonstrate ability to physically de-escalate a crisis situation involving mental health patients.

Maintain a working knowledge of psychiatric intervention skills.

Document patient’s medical records to include pertinent nursing observations and actions taken reflecting the plan of care.

Administer medication and perform procedures as ordered by the physician with accuracy, efficiency and appropriate knowledge of pharmacology and basic nursing care.

Maintain patient confidentiality and ethical conduct.

Perform other duties as required by Supervisor.

Must have knowledgeable of types of patient conditions most commonly encountered and understands the psychological and physiological basis for treatment.

Must be knowledgeable of medication policies and practices, including side effects, dosage and client response.

Ability to demonstrate medication administration safely and accurately, including transcription, and documentation according to established policies.

Demonstrates the documentation of psychiatric symptoms and Plans for Care appropriately.
- Ability to utilize and navigate an electronic health record, Microsoft office software.

- Must be a Registered Nurse with appropriate education, experience, licensure in the State of Florida.

- COMPUTER SKILLS: Must have Intermediate to advanced experience in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), the use of personal computers, and standard office productivity software.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
REQUIREMENTS:
- A valid Class E Drivers’ License for positions that require driving personal or Agency vehicle on Agency business.

Must maintain a minimum Bodily Injury & Property Liability insurance limit of at least $50,000 for positions that require driving personal own vehicle (POV) on Agency business. (Proof Required)
