EQUIPMENT FLEET SERVICE SPECIALIST
USM ReRents
Are you an experienced equipment rental (or equipment fleet) professional? Do you possess top-drawer skills in communicating & following-up with customers, vendors, and partners? Might you seek an opportunity to work with an established, growing organization at the top of its industry niche? If this describes you, please consider USM ReRents!
USM ReRents is the leading aerial construction equipment re-rental company in the US, renting straight & articulating boom lifts, compact atrium crawlers, and telehandlers to large equipment rental yards/companies all over North America (who, in turn, rent these booms and telehandlers to the end-user - oftentimes a construction contractor).
Strong demand for specialized rental equipment (and USM ReRents continued growth) spurs our active search for a Rental Fleet Service Specialist to arrange for and ensure the assets in USM’s equipment fleet are repaired and serviced and are again available for rent. Fleet Service Specialists pro-actively engage USM ReRents' customers (aerial construction equipment rental companies) and/or third-party vendors to arrange for the repair and servicing of non-operating and/or damaged machines. Fleet Service Specialists work closely (and are in constant communication) with USM ReRents sales staff, the team’s Rental Coordinators, the Operations Manager, and Field Service Techs in order to maximize the utilization rate of USM-owned equipment.
Responsibilities:
As a Fleet Service Specialist, your primary responsibilities will include:
-Being responsible for the regular maintenance and repair of USM’s rental fleet located in large portions of the US and Canada.
-Ensuring maximum fleet effectiveness by working with customers and third-party repair shops to arrange for the maintenance & repair of fleet assets, effectively minimizing the number of days that rental equipment is down and unavailable for use.
-Identifying and cultivating customer and third-party provider relationships.
Identifying customer damage to USM equipment, and communicating with the customer to resolve such issues. Arranging the invoicing of customers for repairs of damaged equipment.
-Issuing purchase orders to customers and/or to 3rd party vendors for the repair and maintenance of USM rental fleet.
-Ordering OEM parts and shipping them to repair vendors (or to our own Field Techs) so that repairs may be completed.
-Researching, negotiating pricing, and sourcing common parts from original parts manufacturers.
You will also provide technical assistance to ReRents sales and service staff as needed; review and approve work order estimates and invoices; file equipment warranty claims and return parts; ensure that fleet equipment is scheduled for annual inspections; arrange for the delivery of parts to mechanics (either in the field, in our customer’s yard, or at an equipment repair/service shop); match purchase orders and invoices and approve vendor payments; positively contribute to efficient & timely flow of paperwork & reporting; and complete fleet repair status reports.
*The USM workplace can be fast-paced, for arranging the proper repairs, inspections & preventive maintenance of equipment is vital to ensuring the high utilization of our fleet. Ours is a heavily team-oriented environment. If you prefer to work independently, or are not a team player with a sense of urgency, our workplace is likely not for you.
**Remote work arrangements are generally not available.
Qualifications:
At a minimum, job candidates must possess:
· Three years’ work experience in a related capacity (renting, selling, servicing, scheduling, contracting, and/or overseeing an equipment fleet)
· Demonstrated organizational skills, proven attention-to-detail, and a general sense of urgency
· Strong written & verbal communication skills, and proven ability to keep others updated. It is critical to possess an ability/willingness/natural propensity to follow-up with people (customers/vendors/teammates/partners).
· A valid State of Illinois Driver's License, and a good driving record
Preferred candidates will also possess a Bachelor’s degree, and may possess additional technical training/experience.
Ideal candidates will possess knowledge of the construction equipment rental industry, and of various makes, models & manufacturers of lifts, booms, telehandlers and crawlers; proficiency in Microsoft Word & Excel; skills in time management and in customer service; and abilities to effectively multi-task, to prepare reports, and to read, interpret & communicate equipment drawings and specifications. Grow your career with USM!
