Job Title: Bartender
FLSA Classification: Nonexempt (Hourly)
Salary Range: $8.23/Prevailing Minimum Wage for all non-tipped earning hours
Reports to: Restaurant Manager(s)
Summary/objective: Preparing alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar and patrons. Interacting with customers, taking orders, and serving food and drinks. The Bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties. The bartender must have a neat appearance and engaging, friendly personality. They should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.

Welcoming customers, reading, and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.

Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.

Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.

Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.

Taking inventory and ordering supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.

Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
-
Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.

Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.

Developing new cocktail recipes. Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Fully aware of and comply with Inns policies and procedures as identified in the procedure manual and handbook.

Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and procedures.
Opening Duties;

Get ice for all the wells.

Prepare fruit trays.

Restock the bar with beer, liquor, wine, glassware, juices, etc.

Get a cash drawer and money to make change.

Get trash cans and towels.
-
Make sure the bar is clean before opening it.
Shift Duties
-
Acknowledge the customer when they approach the bar and place a beverage napkin on counter.

Check customer identification when in doubt to ensure that the establishment does not served liquors to minors.

Ensure that the drinks served conform to what the customer at the bar has ordered or expects.

Serve liquor, wines, and bottled or beer.
-
Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons.

Serve snacks or food items to customers seated at the bar.
-
Routinely maintain the hygiene and cleanliness of the bar, all its utensils and bar equipment.

Ensure that no guest is overserved by monitoring all alcoholic consumption of patrons by taking measures like persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation arrangements.

Closing Duties

Wash all the glassware.

Clean all the bottles.

Melt the ice in the well.

Clean the well.

Restock beer, liquor, etc.

Cover bottle pourers with plastic wrap.

Clean the bar.

Do the check out.

Place dirty towels in their appropriate location.

Get rid of the trash and boxes.
Work environment

Working conditions are based in a hospitality setting.

May be indoor or outdoor setting depending on outlet.

Associates may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.

Noise level in work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Exposure to cleaning solvents and chemicals.
Physical demands

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to stand, move and work throughout the restaurant and kitchen area and property, including walking up to 1 mile, climbing stairs and standing at workstation for the duration of the shift.

Required education and experience

High School diploma or GED required.

Minimum of one year of experience bartending required.

Bartender Certification preferred.

T.I.P.S Certified
Additional eligibility requirements

Must be trained and certificated in T.I.P.S program within the first 6 months of employment.

Be familiar with all Hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.
