Senior Manager of California, Bring Change to Mind
Bring Change to Mind (BC2M) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating dialogue around mental health, and to raising awareness, understanding, and empathy. In 2015, BC2M launched a student-led initiative at the high school level aimed at increasing awareness and education about mental health in a supportive environment. Through campus clubs dedicated to mental health conversations, the BC2M Program gives teens a platform to share their voices, empowers students to educate one another, and creates a culture of peer support within schools. In Fall 2024, BC2M will work with over 550 high schools across 43 states in the US. The Senior Manager of California will play a vital role in the growth and success of the organization as we continue to grow in the State and will report directly to the BC2M Senior Program Director.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
California Strategy
- In partnership with senior management and in alignment with BC2Ms strategic plan, develop BC2Ms California strategy to expand our reach and impact across the State.
- Set recruitment strategy, including geographic priorities and strategic approaches to engaging at the city, district, county, and state levels
- Lead California team to achieve growth and statewide impact goals
- Utilize data to address priorities of need, drive student impact, tailor program resources and report to funders/partners
- Manage the budget for regional events and initiatives
- Work with senior management and other peers to develop programmatic strategy and plan for its execution within the programmatic team
Team Management
- Manage three CA-based staff members
- Work with senior management to set priorities and goals for team members
- Support team in organizational pilot to adapt club support model, proactively supporting team through change management
- Work in partnership with other regional leads and senior management to ensure organizational alignment around expectations and performance management of program staff
- Support California team in planning and executing best-in-class annual Summits (NorCal and SoCal)
Club Management
- Manage and communicate with at least 20 primarily SoCal-based high schools enrolled in the SoCal region
- Work closely with the Program Director to track progress and set goals for the region
- Collect and track data points from each of the clubs and report on these as needed
Partnerships
- Develop strategy for district, county, State, nonprofit and corporate partnerships – manage existing partnerships (e.g. San Diego County of Education) and identify/procure new partners to expand BC2M program reach.
- Identify and cultivate partnerships with organizations that can build BC2M brand presence in specific communities or state-wide
- Oversee any of the above partnerships and support successful implementation by regional team
Grants/Funding Opportunities
- Support senior management with identifying at least 3-4 eligible grants per year for California
- Pull data/additional materials needed for grants and reports
- Ensure that testimonials, quotes, photographic content from all CA regions is collected from students, clubs and advisors in timely manner
- Monitor state and regional mental health funding opportunities, identifying and assessing high-potential grants
Outreach and communication
- Present about the BC2M High School Program in various settings including: school districts, conferences, and community or corporate partners
- Work with Communications Manager to set regional communications plan.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of work experience in related fields
- Experience working with schools, District, and/or other educational systems
- Experience managing educational or other partnerships
- Exceptional people manager, with 2+ years management experience and strength in coaching and empowering individuals and teams
- Exceptional relationship manager who can recruit a diverse collection of individuals, schools, foundations, and organizations to this cause
- Confident speaking in front of groups with experience leading workshops and/or presenting at conferences
- Knowledge of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion best practices and experience with culturally competent education
- Prior knowledge or passion to learn about the field of youth mental health
- Knowledge of the landscape of mental health within California education systems
- Knowledge of California mental health funding channels (desirable)
- Experience leading teams through change
- Exceptional program and project management skills, including strong organization and task prioritization
- Comfort using data to inform decision-making
- This role will be responsible for accounts located throughout Southern California, therefore, access to a car to visit schools across the region is preferred.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel to events in California and US as needed

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
