Position Summary:
The Admissions Counselor at Harvey Mudd College, under the guidance and in consultation with the Senior Associate Director of Admission, will play an active and integral role in a wide variety of activities within the Office of Admission. This position requires full engagement in the entire admissions process.
The Admissions Counselor will be essential in shaping the future student body of Harvey Mudd College by contributing to recruitment strategies, evaluating applications, and enhancing the overall admissions experience. This role requires flexibility and adaptability to meet the dynamic needs of the Office of Admission.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead the Office of Admission’s social media efforts, including planning and executing strategies, creating and publishing timely content for multiple platforms, and hiring, training, and supervising interns. Experience in evaluating metrics is a plus.

Coordinate the planning and implementation of special programs and assist in the coordination of other recruitment and yield activities. These programs include HMC’s Women’s Inclusion in STEM (WISTEM) program and the President’s Scholars Finalist program.

Serve as an integral member of the Admission team that is responsible for recruiting and enrolling students who fulfill the College’s mission.

Support the mission of the Office of Admission in growing the diversity within the applicant pool and enrolling class. Contribute to strategies and programming designed to meet this objective.

Learn the College’s mission and ethos. Keep current with the College’s academic programs, support services, and co-curricular offerings.

Represent the college and build relationships with prospective students, their families, high school counselors, and community members. This includes interviewing prospective students and some off-campus recruitment travel.

Evaluate applications for admission in a timely manner and participate fully in the committee based selection process of candidates for admission.

Develop fluency of office tools and procedures, especially Slate CRM by Technolutions.

Practice discretion and maintain confidentiality of records, correspondence, and information, regardless of the format.

Manage multiple activities and priorities. Anticipating seasonal variations in the workload.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Proficient in the operation of a computer, data entry techniques, and specified software including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint etc.) and G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Slides etc.). Proficiency in design tools like Canva and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.

Willing and able to travel (up to two weeks at a time, seasonal) and work weekend and evening hours as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Experience: Experience that has resulted in an understanding and appreciation of highly selective admission is appealing but not required.
Licenses/Certifications: Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the College’s automobile insurance carrier.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands and fingers and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The individual must regularly lift and/or carry up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours:
Regular hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Hours will vary to meet the needs of the department or college and may include weekends and evenings especially when travel is required.
Classification:
This is an exempt, full-time, benefits-eligible position.
Salary
The anticipated starting salary range is $66,560 - $68,000.00/year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
