The Finance Manager is responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of HumanKind Ministries (HK) and its affiliate organizations to include investment plans, monitoring company finances and producing financial reports. This position will report to the Chief Operating Officer (COO) and work closely with members of the leadership team to develop and implement strategies and plans to achieve the company’s long-term objectives through use of in-depth analytical skills to advise and help executives understand the financial health of the organization for improved decision making. In addition, s/he will partner with the Board of Directors’ Finance Committee to financially support HK’s strategies across the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Perform financial management duties including generating financial data, compiling, and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends, and assessing the financial health of the company.
· Create strategic business plans based on the analysis of the company’s status and financial forecasts.
· Oversee the operations and development of the company’s finance department(s) including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training, cash flow planning, banking transactions,conducting regular assessments of financial procedures, coordinating audits and proper filing of tax returns and annual reports
· Oversee the preparation of quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor, and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards and assist with cash flow forecasting.
· Responsible for accurate maintenance of accounts database, timely issuance of payables, and account reconciliations, compliance and recognition for government contracts and private grants to include draw downs on federal, state, and city draw downs on all grants.
· Advise colleagues and executive management on decisions related to the company’s finances.
· Engage and oversee the Finance Committee of the board of directors to ensure short-, medium-, and long-term financial plans and projections are supportive of HK’s strategic plan
· Mediate between the organization and stakeholders on financial issues for amicable resolution of differences
· Supervise other support positions within the Finance department to include performance management.
· Assist as needed with Operation Holiday and other special events, as directed by supervisor
· All other duties as assigned by the COO
Qualifications, Expectations, and Competencies
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Finance and/or Accounting
· Three (3) years of direct experience in financial management and accounting; including audit, compliance, budget, and resource development
· Valid Kansas Driver’s License
· MA/MBA/CPA preferred
· Financial management and accounting in the nonprofit sector to include grants and other funding programs

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The position is regularly required to make use of close vision to read correspondence and prepare reports and other appropriate communications. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, speak with employees, and use a computer for extended periods throughout the day. May be required to lift up to 25 lbs with or without assistance. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop and bend. This position is Monday through Friday, from 8:30am – 5:00pm but might require some evening and weekend attendance.
