Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to our providers in our fast paced specialty pulmonary clinic. The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting healthcare professionals and ensuring smooth medical operations.
Duties:
- Triages patients and administers appropriate treatment under the direction of a physician or other medical provider staff. May operate equipment for diagnostic tests or give injections.
- Prepares the examination room for each patient's visit; ensures adequate supplies and appropriate instruments are available.
- Greets and rooms patients, takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, pulse oximetry and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient. Documents patient history and medication and records this and any other pertinent information in the electronic medical record.
- Performs pulmonary function tests.
- Orders durable medical equipment.
- Obtains prior authorizations on specialty medications.
- Prescription refills. Documents this information in the patient's EMR.
- Instructs patients on pertinent information essential to their care and treatment. Reviews handout material and medical instructions.
- Maintain and clean medical equipment.
- Evaluate patient potential supplemental oxygen requirements for both at rest and ambulation.
- Compiles with OSHA compliance while performing all duties.
- Assists at the front desk, this includes, answering phones, scheduling of appointments, tests and procedures as needed. Referrals and authorizations.
Qualifications:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant certification
- Proficiency in medical terminology and physiology knowledge
- Experience working in a healthcare setting required
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is a plus

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
