Busy primary care practice is seeking an experienced Certified Medical Assistant. This is an excellent full or part-time opportunity for an individual looking for long term employment. Responsibilities include medical assistant tasks and some front desk duties. Candidate must have past experience in primary care setting. Athenanet EMR experience is recommended. Candidate must be able to demonstrate proficiency in EKG, phlebotomy, spirometry, vital signs, etc. Candidate must also have an excellent understanding of medications and medical terminology.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Able to room a patient, do intake, vital signs and document accurately.
- Demonstrate knowledge of injection sites.
- Have the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
- Perform aseptic procedures.
- Perform office procedures including general administrative duties (i.e. phones, scheduling, referrals).
- Collect patient demographics, data, vital signs, height, weight and basic information about patients' present and previous conditions.
- Arrange examining room instruments and equipment.
- Apply simple dressings.
- Remove sutures or staples from superficial lacerations.
- Position, drape and shave patients.
- Collect specimens using non-invasive techniques.
- Preserve specimens for testing.
- Perform venipuncture and perform pulse oximetry.
- Provide patient information and instructions.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma required
- Medical assistant CERTIFICATION required
- Minimum one year of working experience in primary care practice is strongly preferred.
- Strong computer skills required - athenahealth EMR a plus
- Working knowledge of medical terminology
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour
