Fleet Operations Manager Job Description

Position Description:
We are seeking candidates who have strong leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of fleet management best practices.
This position oversees all aspects of fleet operations for Shoreside Logistics as well as manages the Fleet Manager/Business Partners, Planners, and Customer Service Representatives.
Responsibilities:
· Ensures work is being performed in compliance with company standards as well as local, state, and/ or federal guidelines and regulations
· Monitors working drivers, tractor ownership and utilization, and total drivers
· Supervises all aspects of the Company Driver and Independent Contractor relationship
· Tracks tractor revenue per day, total revenue and miles generated, and revenue for total miles
· Assigns tractors and coordinates with shop on maintenance issues
· Oversees Driver and Independent Contractor compensation, reward, and recognition programs
· Counsels employees on incident and injury prevention when necessary
· Establishes performance objectives, internal/external metrics, and continuous improvement opportunities
· Develops and implements fleet management strategies to manage efficiencies and maximize cost
· Prepares clear and concise documents including but not limited to reports, procedures, correspondences, and other written materials
· Promotes and places a high level of importance on the safety culture of the area(s) of responsibility to achieve established safety goals
· Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
· Exceptional verbal, and written communication skills
· Possess people, relationship building, and customer service skills
· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task
· Knowledge of U.S. Transportation industry and Department of Transportation regulations
· Ability to multitask and thrive in a high stress environment
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
· Solid planning and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
· Creative problem-solving and decision-making skills
· Ability to prioritize workload and thrive in a fast-paced environment
· Strong work ethic with a professional and positive attitude
· Stays up-to-date with industry trends and advanced management technology
Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in business administration, transportation and/ or Logistics or related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
· 5 – 10 years of fleet-related experience in the trucking industry, including experience in operations
· 5 years or more experience in a supervisory or management position
· Strong working knowledge of fleet management systems such as TMW Suite and Samara is preferred
