Near North Health, a longstanding pillar of Chicago's healthcare landscape, is seeking a visionary and compassionate Director of Risk Management and Compliance to join our dedicated team. Since our inception in 1966, we have remained committed to our mission of providing accessible, affordable, and high-quality primary healthcare services to all, regardless of their financial circumstances.
As Director of Risk Management and Compliance, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to serve primarily low-income uninsured or underinsured residents of Chicago's medically underserved communities. Your expertise in fostering an ethical, transparent, and safe environment, encouraging the reporting of concerns and safeguarding whistleblower protections, will further solidify our position as one of the largest providers of community-based primary care in the city.
Key Responsibilities:
- Compliance Program Leadership: Develop, oversee, and evaluate the effectiveness of a comprehensive corporate compliance program, ensuring alignment with legal and regulatory requirements. Maintain and update the written corporate compliance plan annually.

Hotline and Reporting Mechanism Establishment: Establish and manage confidential and accessible reporting mechanisms, including a hotline, to encourage the reporting of concerns or suspected violations, ensuring all staff and stakeholders are informed and engaged.

Cultivation of Reporting Culture and Whistleblower Protections: Promote a culture of integrity where reporting suspected wrongdoing is encouraged and protected. Implement clear policies to protect whistleblowers from retaliation, in line with regulatory mandates.

Policy Development and Training: Create and update policies and procedures related to compliance and risk management. Develop the organization's Code of Ethics and ensure that all staff and board members receive appropriate training and education.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in Health Administration, Law, Public Health, Nursing, or related field. This foundational education provides the broad understanding necessary for the complexities of healthcare compliance and risk management.-
Preferred Education: Master’s degree or higher in Health Administration, Public Health, Law, or related field. Advanced degrees offer deeper insight and a more comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system, legal considerations, and advanced risk management strategies.

Certifications: Professional certifications such as Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), or Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) are highly desirable. These certifications demonstrate a commitment to ongoing professional development and a deep understanding of specific compliance and risk management areas.

Deep knowledge and experience in healthcare compliance, risk management, and ethics, including familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations, OIG and HRSA guidelines, and ECRI best practices.

Demonstrated leadership in developing and managing comprehensive compliance programs, with a strong emphasis on promoting a culture of safety and ethical conduct.

Proven ability in establishing effective reporting mechanisms and fostering an environment that supports whistleblower protections.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively navigating complex regulatory environments and promoting a culture of transparency and integrity.
