Reporting to the Site Manager, the assistant site manager is responsible for providing team leadership and support to Site Manager and Associates in daily operations of the car wash. In this role, the Assistant Site Manager will assist in overseeing daily operations including managing staff, responding to customer complaints, maintaining equipment and facilities, maintaining inventory. The assistant site manager will operate tunnel car wash safely, swiftly, and effectively. Additionally, the assistant site manager will play a key role in providing excellent customer service. Must have the ability to work flexible hours including overtime, holidays and weekends, and be “on call”.
Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned)
Operations Management
- Acts as the on-site manager when Site Manager is not available.
- Assists in maintaining accountability and controls of the car wash site to include deposits, inventory, cashier machine functionality, discount codes, etc.)
- Ensures that daily opening and closing procedures are being followed.
- Ensures that employees are properly punching in and out of the timekeeping system
- Learns and understands the business performance data and applies it to daily operations and decisions to increase productivity and sales.
- Responds accurately and on time to all administrative duties and deadlines, accounting/banking, purchasing/inventory, etc.
- Assists with overseeing the security of the facility. Timely reports on potential breaches in security, controls and/or processes.
People Management
- Works with Site Manager and HR in recruiting efforts by interviewing and hiring for specific positions. Trains and oversees the onboarding of new associates in relation company policy and procedure, as well as operational and safety functions and efficiencies.
- Creates and distribute employee schedules based on business needs and availability.
- Directly manage/supervises line crew members.
- Provides “in the moment” feedback to employees. Assists HR and the Site manager with performance evaluations and disciplinary action, and terminations of employees
- Helps to drive team and individual sales and operational competitions to assist both employees and the organization to reach financial goals.
- Customer Service
- Builds brand loyalty by establishing a trusting relationship with customers by meeting their expectations and acting with integrity.
- At all times, provides and demonstrates excellent customer service that is expected of all car wash associates
- Presents a warm, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional image to customers
- Proficiently and professionally handles all escalated customer complaints, referring only the most complicated issues to the next level of management.
- Facility Maintenance
- Assists in making sure that the facility is up and running by ensuring equipment maintenance
Auto Cleaning and Detailing
- Perform the duties of a Car Wash Associate as needed
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year of a supervisory role in a car wash or other customer focused retail establishment
- Ability to demonstrate leadership through personal behavior
- Knowledge of company policies and procedures and ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, proportions, and percentages with an ability to learn and interpret P&L statements
- Ability to interpret a variety of instruction furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Must be able to make decisions guided by company policies, procedures and precedence. Refers non-standard problems to a higher level of management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel. Previous experience with a point of sale system desired.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus in many locations
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time; Frequently required to walk, often on uneven and/or wet surfaces
- Must be able to use a computer and several technology solutions
- Ability to work outdoors and be efficient in all weather conditions
- Frequent stooping, crouching, bending; constant uses of fingers, hands and arms
- Frequent twisting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling
- Occasional ascending and descending a ladder
- Noise levels will be moderate to loud
- Must occasionally be able to lift up to 50 pounds
