SUHNER USA, Inc. is seeking to fill Winding Operator positions located in Rome, GA
POSITION TYPE/COMPENSATION/HOURS
- $18-$30/hour depending on experience
- Full time/Hourly/Weekly pay
- 1st shift (8am-4pm M-F)
- 2nd shift (4pm-12am M-F) 2nd shift premium (additional $1/hour per hour)
- 3rd shift (12am - 8am M-F) 3rd shift premium (additional $1.50 per hour)
Winding Department Production Operator [Full-Time] [1st, 2nd and 3rd Shifts available]
About the Job:
The Operator is responsible for the professional series production of flexible shaft. Load, set up, adjust, and operate a flexible shaft machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures and work instructions. Measure and test in-process flexible shaft per specifications, procedures, and work instructions to ensure conformance to product requirement. Complete all required documentation to ensure traceability of the finished bulk flexible shaft. Supervision and monitoring of the production processes and basic trouble shooting. Responsible for a smooth production process.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE
- 1 - 3 years of work history in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Forklift certification (ability to be certified and/or currently certified).
- Able to read and understand work instructions and other documents related to the job.
- Able to write legibly as required for the job.
- Able to perform basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) with and without the use of a calculator.
- Able to measure product using micrometers, calipers, scales, and measuring tapes.
- Able to operate digital scales for weighing product.
- Able to operate relatively complex production machinery performing multiple, interrelated operations.
- Able to make minor adjustments of production machinery using hand tools, (wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Obtain schedule of product to be produced, standard production forms to be completed and any special instructions from the Winding Supervisor.
- Load, set-up, adjust and operate a flexible shaft winding machine in accordance with engineering specifications, procedures, and work instructions.
- Measure and test in-process flexible shaft per specifications, procedures, and work instructions to ensure conformance to product requirements.
- Complete all required documentation to ensure traceability of the finished bulk flexible shaft is accurately maintained and recorded to include reel identification number, lot numbers of raw materials used, machine number, Operator name, date of run, Operator inspection & test data, event times and notation related to down time, wire breaks, etc.
- Record wire breaks on the Wire Break Log at the Supervisor's desk.
- Accumulate and weigh scrap from the machine being operated at the end of shift and write the weight in the Winding Scrap Log.
- Deliver the finished reel of bulk flexible shaft and all related production paperwork including the Reel Sheet to the Supervisor for final check, weighing and approval.
- Be able to work as a team with others in the winding dept.
- Perform other functions related to flexible shaft winding as instructed by the Winding Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
- Any other task as assigned by the Winding Supervisor and/or Production Manager.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Climate-controlled facility.
- Exposed to moving mechanical parts.
- The employee is regular required to sit, stand, bend, crouch, and walk.
- Required to stand at least 2 hours without resting.
- Lifting up to at least 75lbs from floor-to-waist & waist-to-chest level multiple times per shift utilizing a lift assist and/or employee assistance.
- High level of physical strength is required; hands, forearms, and upper body
- Keen hand/eye coordination.
- Strong hand grip dexterity.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
