Objective:
As an AR Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the accounts receivables for behavioral health clients, including tracking payments, handling insurance claims and ensuring accuracy of billing and claims processing. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the organization and supporting its mission to provide quality behavioral health services to patients.
Responsibilities:
● Status outstanding claims via insurance portal or by phone
● Document follow up notes on accounts and keep meticulous notes as required
● Ensure all claims are collected timely within the goals set forth by management until the claim is paid or deemed uncollectable
● Reviews ERAs and EOBs to determine the status and or rejection of outstanding claims; take appropriate action to resolve claim
● Resolve claim denials within a timely manner
● Perform daily posting of payments via electronic means whenever applicable. Ensure that payments are in balance
● Third Party Negotiations in order to maximize revenue
● Identify payer issues/concerns while performing appropriate research and escalate accounts as appropriate
● Access to the insurance portals to retrieve payments and reconcile outstanding claims
● Research and resolve assigned claims by retrieving claim details from insurance portals if not sent with payment remittance
● Acquire and maintain knowledge of system terminology, claim/denial/coverage concepts and terms, and relevant HIPAA privacy rules and other regulations
● Demonstrate customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
● Maintains confidentiality of all pertinent patient care information to assure patient rights are protected
● Maintain daily, weekly and monthly productivity standards
● Perform ad-hoc reports and other duties as requested by the Manager
● Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
● Highschool diploma or GED equivalent
● Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding
● Minimum three years experience in behavioral health, accounts receivables, or similar field
● Preferred experience with Collaborate MD
● Preferred experience with Mental Health and Substance abuse, Collaborate MD, KIPU, Best Notes, and other common EHR softwares
● Extremely detail-oriented, with consistent accuracy
● Ability to work efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment
● Strong data entry skills
● A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
● Ability to communication effectively and work in a team environment
● Comfortable with working remotely
● Comfortable with working a computer and programs such as Zoom, Google Suites, Microsoft Office
