You will serve as one of V A Home Care’s compassionate Direct Care Worker/Home Health Aide. Who would provide daily life assistance and personal care services to patients in their homes in line with an approved care plan. Direct Care Worker/Home Health Aides will work under the supervision of the home care agency. The mission is to give high-quality care to patients by aiding with personal care, daily living tasks, and following established policies and procedures.
Duties (which would include most but not all of the following):
- Light Housekeeping.
- Meal Preparation.
- Medication Supervision/Management.
- Mobility Assistance.
- Accompany to doctor appointments (If needed).
- Dressing.
- Laundry services.
- Assisting with Daily Activities.
- Baths/Grooming.
- Emotional Control.
- Companionship.
- Monitor patients (vital signs, temperature, respiration, etc) and report on their condition.
Responsibilities:
- Follow assignments and guidelines set by the Home Care Agency.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for individuals under your care.
- Prepare and submit all documentation by established deadlines in conjunction with policies and procedures.
- Report unusual behavior and any other pertinent patient information to Supervisor.
- Demonstrate flexibility in reacting to the demands of the patient.
- At NO time are you allowed to bring your children to work (NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Discussing ANY consumer’s health with others is against agency policy and HIPAA Law.
- Borrowing money from consumers is against agency policy.
- Using the consumer’s medication is prohibited and against agency policy.
- Other duties as requested/assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Comfortable with little supervision.
- Valid driver's license with a registered vehicle that is insured and can pass a safety inspection.
- 1-3 years of proven working experience as Home Health Aide or comparable roles.
- Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Proficiency in English and/or Spanish.
- Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills (in English and/or Spanish) Bilingual preferred.
- Nursing and health care administration skills.
- Caring and compassionate personality.
- Reliability and Trustworthiness.
- Flexible Availability.
