Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment to the Psychiatric Technician (Safety) Classification. This position is under the direct supervision of the Program Assistant of Enhancement Services. The position will perform the Level of Care Nursing duty, primarily focusing on facilitating multimedia productions and training.
The successful candidate will work with other Enhancement Services team members to supervise and facilitate the coordination and development of the Multimedia Training Program, which produces multimedia materials. Also develop and complete special projects that integrate Multimedia Production service with other Enhancement Services treatment programs and hospital activities. The selected applicant will implement skill building curriculum that focuses on therapeutic vocational multimedia production education and assess and determine the suitability of a patient’s enrollment in a Multimedia Training Program group in collaboration with treatment teams and unit staff. The position is crucial for the facility to continue to provide the multimedia productions program and care to mentally disordered patients within the structured safe and secure environment to reach the optimal outcome.
Full-time employees in nursing classifications assigned to off-unit service areas are included on the mandatory overtime rotation list that will require an employee to work in a variety of settings throughout the Hospital. Additionally, staff will be required to work at least (3) major holidays and or high needs days during the calendar year in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
The successful candidate shall have excellent people skills with experience in group facilitation and positive experience working with patients both individually and in groups. Candidates should be collaborative team players and evidence solid clinical judgment and professional boundaries with patients and co-workers. The candidate shall have knowledge and experience of multimedia productions. A desirable candidate will be known for personal initiative, independent functioning, and a strong work ethic.
In addition, the qualified person must be a clear and direct communicator, possess excellent writing skills for progress notes and report writing and proficient in the usage of common office computer applications such as Outlook and MS Word. Knowledge of Excel is preferable. Other desired qualities include being patient-oriented, a collaborative team player, awareness of safety/security, patience, flexibility, attention to detail, organizational ability, and the ability to manage a large and varying caseload.
Desirable qualifications consist of knowledge of various multimedia productions techniques and equipment.
