About Us
Global Growers Network (GGN) is a nonprofit based in Decatur, GA that partners with people from diverse cultures to grow fresh food for their families and for local marketplaces. We work with 200 growers representing over 20 cultures and languages. We operate a network of community gardens in Decatur and Clarkston, a market farm located at the Indian Creek MARTA station in Stone Mountain, and a 23-acre organic co-farm in Conyers.
Position Summary and Candidate Vision
The Senior Program Manager will lead the program team, to ensure that high-quality programs support the network’s diverse growers, farmers and community.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and manage a portfolio of programs supporting the network, urban farm/garden sites and the Rockdale Organic Co-Farm. This includes responsibility for: The Rockdale Organic Co-Farm’s programs and training activities; Grower network programs that support the urban growers and farmers; Other program initiatives that include market readiness, apprenticeships, and advocacy
- Expand and implement the program monitoring and evaluation framework, gather feedback and drive continuous improvement and the centering of shared leadership and decision-making between growers and staff
- Prepare reports on program activities and budgets, outcomes and impacts for internal and external stakeholders, including funders and board members
- Contribute to the organization’s leadership team as the thought leader on program strategy
- Manage staff who are responsible for program team activities to ensure goals and objectives are met. This currently includes a Program Network Manager (who has two part-time direct reports), a Co-Farm Program Manager, and a part-time Pilot Project Leader
- Work with relevant board members, staff, and other key stakeholders to to align the program team’s activity with organization’s values, operations, programs, strategic goals, and revenue generation
- Support recruitment, hiring, training, and orientation of the program team members
- Other responsibilities as needed
Requirements
- A broad understanding of local food and farming systems, ideally with at least two years of experience working in a garden or farm setting (e.g. vegetable farming, community garden, cooperative extension, farm-based education)
- Three years of experience with program management, including results-driven design strategy, management tools, work plan development, and evaluation/impact frameworks. Ideally this will be in a farming/food system setting
- Three years of experience building and leading high-performing teams, with experience in cross-cultural and multilingual environments strongly preferred
- Proven ability to develop and maintain budgets, lead the development of work plans and deliverables, track data, and develop program reports
- A demonstrated ability to to shift communication styles to fit the needs of a wide range of cultures, people, and organizations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; Airtable experience is a plus; experience with CRM systems is a plus
- Access to reliable transportation for travel between GGN sites and to offsite meetings
Location and Schedule
This is an exempt position requiring a minimum of forty hours per week, with standard working hours, Tuesday - Saturday, along with occasional pre-scheduled evening and weekend work. This position will primarily work from our office at Legacy Park in Decatur. We also have an office at our farm in Conyers. The position will typically require one day a week at our office in Conyers. Remote/virtual work is possible outside of necessary in-office responsibilities up to about 30% of the time.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually, commensurate with experience. Benefits include: Healthcare Reimbursement Account ($370/month), cell phone stipend ($25/month), SIMPLE IRA retirement account (3% match), paid time off (starts at 14 days/year) and paid holidays (6 public holidays; 2 floating holidays; 2 week bonus time at year-end), and professional development budget ($1,000/year).
