ABOUT NATIONAL DIZZY & BALANCE CENTER:
National Dizzy & Balance Center (NDBC) is a unique outpatient clinic system. Specializing in diagnosing and treating patients with vestibular disorders, concussions and spine injuries. We currently utilize Physicians, Physician Assistants, Audiologists, Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapists within each of our four Twin Cities clinic locations to offer a true multidisciplinary approach to maximize patient outcomes. We are in business to improve our patients' quality of life, not just provide a medical service. Position Overview: The Staff Physician position with National Dizzy and Balance Center provides and/or oversees direct patient care services for outpatient patients with medical and rehabilitation needs. The Staff Physician is required to provide medical rehabilitation leadership to the team and appropriate medical decision-making in the assessment of patients, determination of rehabilitative predicted outcomes, and ongoing rehabilitation care management resulting in achievement of vestibular, concussion and orthopedic outcomes. Medical services will be provided to all rehabilitation-related diagnostic categories, with recognition of specific competencies and sub-specialties as set by manager. This is including but not limited to vestibular disorders, balance disorders, concussion and orthopedics. The role at NDBC allows opportunity for consistent and continuous interdisciplinary collaboration to maximize patient outcomes. The physicians are accountable as employed physicians to the Clinical Program Director and the Administrative Director.
Hours: Part-time employees are hourly working 16-30 hours/week. Full-time employees are Salaried at 4 of 5 days per week working 8-10 hour days. Clinic hours are Monday through Friday. No on-call hours, all scheduled patients. Primary clinic locations will be split based on patient and medical department need. Punctuality and good attendance are essential. Paid time off on an accrual basis to be approved by clinical program director.
Qualifications
- MD: Medical Degree and license to practice medicine unrestricted
- Licensure/Certification: DEA
- Years of experience practicing as MD are encouraged.
- Experience working with vestibular, concussion and orthopedics desired but not required.
- Board certification not required to apply.
Duties:
- Articulate the mission/vision and importance to the organization. Support the values, goals, and objectives of NDBC.
- Administer appropriate evaluation objective assessments as outlined in department protocols. The objective information should then be properly assessed to determine rehabilitation and audiological needs at NDBC to establish an appropriate plan of care.
- Provide insight and input into patient’s functional status including but not limited to documentation of deficits observed in initial consultation, follow up and report of findings visits. The Physician is also responsible for completing all appropriate medical paperwork for patients under the care of National Dizzy and Balance Center.
- Maintain billable time per department goals and protocols.
- Participate in collaborative conversations, both formal and informal, with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with clinical assistant to ensure consistent patient care.
- Follow through with patients regarding the plan of care, communication with rehabilitation staff, and case managers.
- Participate in clinic and medical department meetings to enhance the quality of the rehabilitation team at NDBC.
- Complete all Quality Assurance (QA) competencies set forth by medical department.
- Handle medical legal work, including Narratives/depositions, expert testimony, and collaboration with attorney offices.
- Adhere to safety and security rules, following OSHA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Attend seminars and training as required by license and NDBC.
- Travel may be required.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of and adherence to all National Dizzy and Balance Center policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of and adherence to all medical department protocols.
- Knowledge of clinical background and clinical pathways.
- Knowledge of professional practice as defined by the American Medical Association (AMA).
- Attend seminars for licensing and NDBC requirements.
- Skilled in using clinic-based medical equipment and supplies; computer proficient.
- Willingness to learn new technology, processes, procedures, and stay current with industry practices.
- Maintain confidentiality, use discretion and tact in duties and interactions with patients and co-workers.
- Proves competency following the training period via Clinical Program Director and supervising physician or physician assistant’s assessment of skills.
- Travel between clinics may be required.
