Energetic, self-driven, part-time pharmacist with good patient skills desired for new independent retail pharmacy. Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Review of prescriptions issued by a physician to assure accuracy and contacting the physician if there are questions.
- Assist with the growth of the pharmacy through advertisement of services provided and participation in community health events.
- Compound medications using standard formulas and processes, such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
- Assist with the training of pharmacy staff.
- Provide effective and accurate information to pharmacy customers on drug interactions, side effects, and dosage and storage of pharmaceuticals. Counseling must be provided in accordance with federal and state pharmacy laws.
- Maintain established procedures concerning quality assurance, security of controlled substances, and disposal of hazardous waste drugs.
- Process all outdates, returns, and recalls according to company policy and procedures.
- Assist with the proper purchasing, inventory, and handling of all supply items purchased.
- Assist in organizing, directing, and supervising technician's work flow, verifying preparation, labeling, and pre-packing of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain an up to date knowledge of the profession by participation in organization memberships; attendance at meetings, lectures, in-services, seminars, and reading journals to maintain professional competency and proficiency.
- Participate in clinical programs and services performed by the pharmacy, such as point of care testing, blood glucose monitoring, hypertension adherence monitoring, and educational seminars for patients.
Must be able to multitask and be willing to work on weekends. Must possess excellent communication and customer service skills. Must have an active SC pharmacist license, be in good standing with the SC Board of Pharmacy, and have immunization certification. Completion of APhA certification programs in Medication Therapy Management (MTM), Diabetes Care, and/or Point of Care testing is a plus. Compounding experience is preferrable.
