Summary of position:*
We are looking for a sharp, ambitious, and enthusiastic Registered Nurse-PACU to join our team. The successful candidate is someone that is passionate about working in a care team model with responsibility provide care in a postoperative phase. The right candidate will be able to administer functions such as monitoring vital signs, ensuring patients safety and comfort. Having attention to details is a must. *What You'll Do:*
* Provide quality care to patients in the pre and postoperative phases of the ambulatory surgery experience.
* Introduce yourself and interview the patient/family for pertinent information.
* Apply ID bracelet and applicable allergy bands.
* Review preoperative chart to ensure all lab studies and necessary paperwork are present.
* Have the patient or guardian sign the operative consent and have physician perform preoperative assessment prior to going to OR.
* Verify patient name, date of birth and planned procedure and site.
* Monitor vital signs and assess cardiac and fluid volume, airway potency and wounds/drains.
* Implement and sign of on physician pre and post op orders
* Demonstrate awareness of patients’ concerns and a willingness to address them
* Avoid and prevent casual discussion of patient’s surgery among employees.
* Ensure patients safety and comfort.
* Observe pertinent changes in symptoms of patients’ condition and take appropriate action; report to physician
* Document all nursing interventions in the patient’s chart
* Perform narcotic count at the beginning and end of each working day.
* Maintain accurate records of narcotics dispensed in the narcotic log book.
* Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
* Complete necessary pre-and post-operative teaching of patient and family
* Maintain open lines of communication on the patient’s status with OR and anesthesia staff throughout the Perioperative period.
* Clean an restock all areas at the end of the day
* Participate in inventory control by reporting on low stock levels etc.
* Implement cost containment measures
* Participate in quality assurance initiatives
* Assist with updating of printed material: e.g. surgeon’s post-op orders, discharge instructions, etc.
* Make preoperative assessment and post-operative follow-up calls as required.
*What You'll Need:*
* Current state licensure as Registered Nurse.
* Minimum of one year Perioperative experience, critical care and/or outpatient experience preferred.
* Ability to verbalize understanding of the nursing process; assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
* Has knowledge and understanding of physical and emotional disease processes, clinical nursing skills, and administration of medications.
* Current Basic Life Support Certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required (or willingness to achieve). Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
* F. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Other duties as assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed, by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company.

Pay: $30.00 per hour
