The Massachusetts General Hospital Division of Cardiology and the adult Congenital Heart Disease Team is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual for a Clinical Research Coordinator - Data Analyst hybrid position to assist with ongoing and future clinical research studies. This is a part time 20 hour per week positon.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Indicate key areas of responsibility, major job duties, special projects and key objectives for this position. These items should be evaluated throughout the year and included in the written annual evaluation.
This Clinical Research Coordinator - Data Analyst position offers the opportunity to work on innovative projects related to the field. Responsibilities will include obtaining and maintaining patient data and study records, screening and recruiting patients for clinical studies, conducting data analysis on multi-dimensional clinical data. This Clinical Research Coordinator – Data Analyst will work on all aspects of clinical research project design, implementation, and communication of results. There will also be a need to act as a liaison between the IRB and the study team and maintain IRB related documents. The ability to work independently is a must. This is the ideal position for someone looking to work with a dedicated group of people to further and advance clinical research in the field of Adult Congenital Heart Disease while gaining invaluable medical and research experience.
The Clinical Research Coordinator – Data Analyst will have broad responsibilities regarding the maintenance of the databases across multiple studies performed by the research group. The candidate will help to upkeep databases with ongoing data collection, plan and develop programs for statistical analyses, execute these programs, and interpret the results. The candidate will assist the investigators in the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals based on the results. Opportunities will exist to propose research ideas and broaden the research background with varied tasks and assignments
The successful candidate will have a background in math and science with strong quantitative and computational skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks are essential. The candidate must be self-motivated, independent in task completion, and comfortable accepting feedback and guidance from colleagues.
This position is ideal for someone interested in pursuing medical school or further graduate studies.
This is a part-time (20 hours/week) position; evening and weekend hours may occasionally be required to facilitate study conduct. There may be a need to take call on nights/weekends/holidays (depending on research study parameters).
SKILLS/ABILITIES/COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: Must be realistic, objective, measurable and related to essential functions of this job.
- Participates in research protocols spanning a large range of areas that primarily relate to cardiology and cardiac critical care.
- Recruitment and Enrollment in clinical research studies
- Records and analyzes data from our clinical research studies
- Actively participates in research database creation, upkeep, and analysis.
- Experience in database design and management is preferred
- Ability to perform database and medical record search using tools such as electronic data warehouse (EDW) or the Research Patient Data Registry (RPDR)
- Must demonstrate statistical/analytic and reasoning skills to perform high level of problem solving.
- Experience with computer programming and statistical analyses
- May assist with writing protocols and manuscripts for submission to research journals and national scientific meetings.
- Strong communication skills, a strong desire to contribute to the research team and a positive, proactive, attitude are required.
EDUCATION: Specify minimum education and clearly indicate if preferred or required
Minimum education required BA/BS (preferred in science-related field).
EXPERIENCE: Specify minimum creditable years of experience and clearly indicate if preferred or required
Previous experience in clinical research is a plus.
