Clinical Therapist Job Description
Position Summary:
The basic functions of the clinical therapist are to provide assessments, treatments, psychotherapy, case management, and referrals to a broad range of clients to promote mental health. Individual, couples, family, and group therapy are available forms of treatment. Clients can range in age from young children to the elderly. Support and education can be provided to the significant others and/or family members of clients. Clinical therapists will provide crisis intervention as needed. All services are provided in accordance with professional ethics and boundaries.
Responsibilities:
- Establish positive, trusting rapport with clients.
- Perform initial evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans according to client needs and circumstances.
- Diagnose and treat mental health disorders.
- Meet with clients regularly to provide counseling/treatment, to monitor client progress, and to adjust treatment plans as necessary.
- Conduct ongoing assessments as needed.
- Provide clients with resources to help reach therapeutic goals.
- Develop appropriate intervention and recovery plans for individuals, couples, families and groups.
- Refer clients to outside specialists or agencies when necessary.
- Coordinate with social and medical agencies, healthcare providers, and community outreach programs to provide clients with needed services.
- Involve and advise family members when appropriate.
- Maintain thorough and timely records of therapy sessions, meetings, and client progress within the practice’s EHR system.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain client confidentiality.
- Complete continuing education courses to maintain certification/licensure and stay up-to-date on the latest practices.
- Engage in monthly consultation with direct supervisor.
- Contribute to practice by accomplishing related tasks as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, marriage and family therapy, or related field
- Independent level professional license
- Current with all NM state professional licensing requirements
- 3 years’ clinical experience
Salary & Benefits:
- Fully remote W-2 position
- $55 - $65 per hour
