We are seeking someone to serve middle schoolers and their families through the mission of WyldLife in the town of Andover, Kansas. Our ideal candidate is someone who has the desire to build and develop relationships with kids and parents. The candidate would work alongside our Area Director, as well as our full time Young Life Staff Associate, with the primary task of reaching middle schoolers at both Andover Middle School and Andover Central Middle School.
This mission of WyldLife is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and help them grow in their faith. WyldLife is the first introduction kids have to the world of Young Life – where they have the opportunity to hear the Gospel presented in a way that is tangible and modeled by a relationship with their leader. The person we are looking for will have a critical role in outreach (introducing adolescents to Jesus) discipleship (helping
them grow in their faith), developing and deepening relationships with parents (to establish a strong foundation that will cast vision for kids from 6th to 12th grade), and leading a team of high school and adult leaders as they walk with kids.
The ideal candidate meets these criteria:
1. Deep love for Jesus
2. Heart for those who aren’t following Jesus
3. Emotional maturity
4. Ability to build and lead a team
5. Desire and boldness to meet and build relationships with parents
6. Initiator of contact work with kids
Job functions
In addition to direct-ministry work with students, will include raising $20,000 in personal financial support; executing a weekly club for both middle schools (on the same night), recruiting and training volunteers to reach students; interacting with the Andover Young Life Committee; communicating with other staff, donors, volunteers, and students; and completing various administrative tasks. We believe that the role of a WyldLife Staff Associate is critical in laying the foundational work of a healthy ministry in a town, giving kids the opportunity to be involved 6th -12th grade!
Our Andover area has developed and grown into a deep-rooted community over the last 7 years. Both WyldLife and Young Life leaders meet together on a weekly basis outside of club to share a meal, share God-sightings, and study the Bible together – this often includes high school-aged kids (WyldLife leaders), hanging out with their own Young Life leader. It is a beautiful model of discipleship and we believe that it creates unity that you can feel as well as see from the outside, contributing to a community that others want to be a part of.
Andover is 15 minutes East of the Wichita metro area, so it gives you the perfect “small town”, suburban feel with access to everything you’d need in a larger city. The hospitality is unmatched and you’ll feel right at home!
