The SJRA is a public entity whose mission is to develop, conserve, and protect the water resources of the San Jacinto River basin. Its primary purpose is to implement long-term, regional projects related to water supply and water quality. SJRA delivers raw water to both municipal and industrial consumers and provides water treatment and wastewater services through the ownership, operation, and maintenance of infrastructure including reservoirs, groundwater wells, surface water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, lift stations, and miles of open channel and conveyance systems.
Summary
The San Jacinto River Authority is seeking to fill the position of General Maintenance Worker for the Woodlands Division located in The Woodlands, TX. The Woodlands Division provides water and wastewater utility services to The Woodlands municipal utility districts. The division currently operates and maintains 3 wastewater treatment plants, 31 sewage lift stations, 5 water pumping facilities, 6 elevated storage tanks and 38 ground water wells. Through on-the-job and classroom training, knowledge of the tasks listed below will be gained:
- Processes maintenance activities and work orders using the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAM) and properly documents, organizes, and files correspondence, reports and records related to maintenance activities within the system.
- Operates heavy equipment such as forklifts, excavation equipment and man-lifts.
- Performs simple maintenance tasks such as oil changes, air filter and belt replacements.
- Builds forms, mixes and pours new concrete for sidewalks, curbs, and other similar projects as needed.
- Operates all hand tools required for the work including shovels, rakes, picks, hoes, wrenches, drills and saws.
- Maintains or assists in maintaining plant landscaping, grounds, buildings and roads.
- Cleans and cares for a variety of tools and equipment necessary to the work. Cleans and paints plant equipment and facilities as needed.
- Develops and maintains knowledge of best practices in preventative maintenance and repair of machines, mechanical equipment and buildings.
- Operates vehicles for operational purposes by driving from facility to facility to conduct maintenance duties.
- This position is classified as a safety sensitive position. The individual holding this position is subject to random, unannounced drug and alcohol testing.
- This position is classified as primary essential personnel. The individual holding this position will be required to work as usual or as needed (1) during emergency operations, (2) in preparation for prolonged emergency operations and/ or (3) during recovery from prolonged emergency operations as directed by his/her direct supervisor, appropriate Department/Division Manager, the appropriate Senior Level Manager, or the General Manager.

Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year of general work experience.
- Mechanical aptitude; handy with tools and equipment.
- Valid Texas Driver’s license with an insurable driving record.
