Winston Preparatory School seeks a Development Associate to support the work of its Development Department. The Development Associate will report to the Director of Development and support the department in all aspects of its fundraising activities, including annual and special giving campaigns, foundation and corporate giving, and fundraising events. The candidate should be proactive and organized with excellent attention to detail. Flexibility and an ability to multitask is a must. Strong computer skills and familiarity with the Google Suite is required. The Development Associate will frequently use eTapestry to enter data, develop queries, and run reports. Experience in this or similar database software is preferred, and the ability to learn how to use eTapestry proficiently is required. The duties of the position will be equal parts administrative and more advanced tasks, such as drafting language for correspondence and communications pieces, helping to develop strategies for fundraising campaigns, and other tasks.
Essential Skills and Qualities
- Ability to draft/edit compelling copy for correspondence, emails, e-blasts, and other types of documents
- Ability to format text documents and data spreadsheets so that they are attractive, error-free, and easy to read
- Ability to compile and analyze significant amounts of data, such as mailing lists and table seating charts
- Personable, friendly, and professional demeanor for interactions with fellow staff and donors
- Strong practical common sense, as well as analytical skills
- Attention to detail in all aspects of position, ensuring that mistakes are the rare exception
Position Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support and also take on more advanced tasks in the Development Department
- Maintain and run queries/reports on the donor database, Blackbaud’s eTapestry
- Conduct all gift processing and associated data entry, including gift tracking and acknowledgement
- Generate mailing lists and mail merges from databases for all mailings, including electronic ones
- Produce donor reports and reconcile financial records
- Participate in all aspects of special event planning, including the annual fundraising benefit/auction
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- 5+ year proven work history in fundraising or similar field
- Administrative and special events experience
- The ability to work with a team and independently, managing multiple projects
- Knowledge and experience within a Mac environment
- Donor database experience strongly encouraged
This position is full-time and primarily remote – this position requires occasional travel to the office in Midtown Manhattan and campuses in the tri-state area (New York, New Jersey, or Connecticut).
