Surgical Scheduler/Patient Coordinator
Houston Oculofacial Plastic Surgery is a thriving surgical practice specializing in plastic and reconstructive surgery. We are seeking a Surgery Scheduler/Patient Coordinator to join our team.

The incumbent will be highly motivated, demonstrate a positive and proactive work ethic and will be accountable for supporting the practice administratively and operationally. The position will uphold established policies, procedures, objectives, quality improvement, safety and the requirements of regulatory and accrediting agencies. The position will demonstrate a high level of professionalism and maintain positive relationships with patients and staff at all times.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Scheduling of patients for surgery and maximization of operative schedules
- Ensuring all required insurance preauthorizations
- Collecting surgical fees
- Maintaining required documentation in computerized medical record.
- Maintaining operating room, equipment and surgical instrumentation according to proper sterile technique
- Preparation of patients for examination and treatment
- Taking photographs of patients per office protocols
- Pre and post operative instruction of patients
- Assisting surgeon with surgical procedures
- Performing certain minor office procedures
- Maintaining required inventories of medical and surgical supplies
- Other duties as assigned
Required skills include:
- High school diploma
- Two years medical office experience; surgical practice experience preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Ability to work independently
- Strong computer skills
- Exceptional communication skills and ability to maintain positive relationships with patients and staff; must be a team player
- A professional appearance and adherence to established dress code.
- Bilingual, a plus
- Experience in selling aesthetic products desired
