Pharmacy Technician II - Specialty Pharmacy (Hybrid Schedule)
The Pharmacy Technician II - Specialty Pharmacy position exists to provide technical expertise in the Specialty Pharmacy. The position supports the pharmacy by aiding the pharmacists and other clinical staff. Once the Outpatient Tech II- Specialty Pharmacy has become proficient in the core operations of the NCH Outpatient Pharmacy, they will transition to a primarily call center based role.
Schedule: (Full time, Benefits Eligible)
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday - 8:00 am to 4:30 pm and 8:30 am to 5:00 pm

Responsibilities:
- Accepts prescription, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patient’s allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system

Serves as call center agent: answers the telephone and assists caller or forwards to appropriate individual (pharmacist, pharmacy administration, etc.). Places outbound calls to patients to schedule prescription deliveries.

Prepares shipments appropriately to ensure drug stability during transit.

Manages pharmacy stock, including ordering and organizing and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of any problems or concerns

Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with third party payers, without pharmacist intervention.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Education:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Licensure:
-
Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified).
Certifications:
-
Completion of a pharmacy technician program, two years of experience as a pharmacy technician (preferably in a setting appropriate for the position, e.g. outpatient, hospital, etc.), experienced NCH outpatient technician in good standing, or a bachelor’s degree.

Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (CPhT, ExCPT).
Skills:

Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site.
