Our client, an industry leader, is looking to hire a Gearing Specialist for their location near Savannah, GA.
The Gearing Specialist will organize, and complete technical work and gearbox related tasks. This position requires the ability to interface with customers and serve as a technical resource for the company. You will be tasked with maintaining/improving reliability, efficiencies, and communication regarding our customer's machines. Combining the high level of professional ability expected with personal qualities will allow you to join, manage, and encourage existing highly motivated teams.
Gearing Specialist Responsibilities:
- Exchange Bearings and gears as per OEM remanufacturing specifications
- Be able to perform standard mechanical assembly procedures, rework, and repair gearbox components and systems in the field
- Must be required to work in tight areas, ladders, and scissor lift, greater than 6 feet off the ground
- Possess thorough knowledge and ability to use all tools associated with assembling units according to OEM specifications, such as lifting equipment, wall, and overhead cranes, hydraulic and electric torque tools, specific hydraulic pullers for disassembly operations and other tools included but not limited to impact drills, magnetic drills, angle grinders, sanders, basic hand tools (manual and pneumatic) Measurement tools, calipers, and oil flushing equipment
- Data Collection for Paper Machine Gearing and Bearings
- Data Collection on different types of couplings
- Conduct gearbox inspections
- Serve as Technical Interface with customers.
- Provide technical advice to customer and the team
- Troubleshoot gearbox issues
- Construct and present service reports
- Interface with Gearbox engineering on the development of field service methodologies and tooling
- Support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity
- Follow EH&S guidelines and policies
- Follow good environmental practices and waste management procedures, including segregate waste
Candidate requirements
- Minimum High School Diploma or GED
- Preferred but not required, three years of experience with Reducer rebuilds
- Previous experience working with gears and bearings is preferred
- Strong safety culture
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Previous experience reading and understanding drawings
- Manual precision tool measurement background
