We are seeking a 3D artist to join our training system development team in Orlando, FL. This team is engaged in development of game-based, 3D virtual training systems for a DoD customer. The candidate will be expected to apply a full understanding and capability in 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, and animation in the creation of game-based, 3D virtual training systems. Candidates must possess experience via either independent work or school projects. Professional game development is ideal but not required. Must present an online portfolio of relevant 3D artwork for consideration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adheres to an asset pipeline for integrating 3D models and textures into Unity 3D.
- Creates both high and low poly models, rips clean normal maps from high poly assets.
- Generates normal maps from high poly assets.
- Applies understanding of UV layout for efficient texture usage.
- Creates textures with a PBR material authoring tool such as Quixel or Substance Painter (preferred)
Required Education:
- Requires Bachelor’s degree in Multimedia and Animation, Computer Animation, Digital Arts and Design, or Game Art, or equivalent education and experience.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience: this can include professional, personal and school related work.
Required Skills:
- Proficient with at least one major 3D package like 3DS Max (preferred), Maya, Cinema4D or Blender.
- Proficient at retopologizing, UV & texturing assets from reference.
- Experience with polygonal optimization and LOD creation.
- Experience with asset pipeline, integrating 3D models, textures etc. into Unity 3D.
- Experience with the creation of simple rigged body and rigged animations.
- Strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and a proactive nature.
- Ability to work in a team and to integrate director feedback quickly.
- Flexible to changes in production and able to shift focus between a range of tasks.
- Ability to finish tasks within a given time frame.
Preferred, but Not Required Skills:
- Perforce CM Tool suite experience (HelixCore, HelixIM, HelixRM, HelixTM)
- Experience developing Unity-based simulations for the Department of Defense (DoD) or DoD subcontractors.
- Motion graphics experience (Adobe After Effects preferred)
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
