Field Superintendent Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Field Superintendent to lead our Overhead Crane Installation projects. The ideal candidate will live in the Houston area, and begin the process of opening a new branch and relocating to Denver, CO. You should have a deep understanding of project management, exceptional leadership skills, and expertise in overseeing the installation and modification of overhead cranes.
Field Superintendent Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and direction to on-site installation teams
- Interpret blueprints and project layouts, ensuring a clear understanding of project scope
- Oversee the measurement, layout, and installation processes to exact specifications
- Utilize lasers and other measuring tools to guarantee precision in project execution
- Effectively communicate project requirements to team members and coordinate activities
- Supervise the use of hand tools for bolting, connecting members, and installing bolting hardware
- Manage the installation or fabrication of metal pieces into columns, girders, or structural frameworks
- Lead the repair or replacement of existing steel parts of buildings and structures
- Ensure proper alignment of installed pieces and components
- Supervise rigging processes following proper techniques
- Coordinate the operation of forklifts, aerial lifts, and other machinery for efficient task accomplishment
- Provide clear signals to operators of forklifts and cranes for precise positioning of components
- Enforce the cleaning and maintenance of tools and equipment to ensure optimal condition
- Ensure strict compliance with industry and governmental regulations on safety protocols
Field Superintendent Position Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Background and Motor Vehicle checks
- 90% travel required; ability to travel long distances in company trucks with co-workers
- Proficient in working at heights from aerial lifts and structures with proper anchorage and tie-off points
- Thorough understanding and adherence to safety policies
- Previous experience in welding or construction preferred
- Knowledge of proper metal handling techniques
- Proficiency in industry tools and equipment, including hand and power tools and welding devices
