The incumbent must be able to handle all types of animals and situations including impoundment, quarantine, euthanasia and carcass removal.
The noise level in the environment is moderately noisy.
Duties may include desk-related tasks in an office environment, patrolling in a vehicle, or assisting police personnel in the field.
This position involves working a variety of schedules, including weekends, holidays and evenings, and the incumbent is subject to work rotating shifts and beyond scheduled hours including emergency call in. The incumbent's schedule can be changed with little or no notice and mandatory overtime may be required with little or no advance notification.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
The employee is occasionally required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, smell, and reach with hands and arms.
Physical demands are described as very heavy (handling demands that can exceed 100 lbs. occasionally, exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
Data entry and other tasks may require sitting at either a computer or in a motor vehicle for several hours.
